PANTAY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

           Every year the the Department of Education (DepEd) in coordination with Local Government Unit (LGU) conduct 18- Day Campaign to end violence against women and children. At this year, they conducted the said campaign with the theme “End Vaw” Its our Duty” from November 25 to December 12, 2014 which aims to increase awareness or right bearers on violence against women and children and to augment the efforts of duly-bearers in eliminating gender-based violence, increase commitment of right-holders in eliminating violence against women and children and forge partnerships among stakeholders in addressing VAWC.

In this connection, Pantay Elementary School made streamer announcing the said campaign posted in front of the school. Some teachers attended the kick off parade with the objective “THE WALK TO END VAW” last November 25, 2014. The WALK was started at Ynares Center, Antipolo City and it was ended at Sumulong Park Plaza followed by some activities related to the theme. On the other day Ms Dalia P. Gono conducted poster making and slogan making contest held in the school last November 27, 2014 which aims to end VAW by showing pupil’s talents in writing and art making. The contestants were selected grade three to grade six pupils. All of them were awarded with certificate of participation and recognition. To sum up, the most important activity held in the school was symposium headed by the supportive school principal Mrs. Nenita G. Acorda, some of her teachers and also the chairwoman of the baranggay to disseminate on various forms of Violence Against Women and children such as physical, sexual, verbal, psychological and economic abuse which to address the parents and children in school. Hopefully, it can help to lessen the said issue today.

            The campaign was essential to everybody for they learned about violence against women and children’s issues nowadays. Indeed, it was successful and meaningful activities  concerning to have peace in our society.
